How many companion/vanity pets were there in the MMO World of Warcraft as of April 2007?
As the question states, how many vanity pets were there in World of Warcraft as of April 2007?How many companion/vanity pets were there in the MMO World of Warcraft as of April 2007?I have no idea where you would find an official previous total count, but iirc there were only 90-some vanity pets before 3.0 (the pet hunter achieve was soooo hard), and before that minus the tourny pets, so that's less another 10... There was no BattleBot nor many special edition pets, so thats 4-5 less.. Between 60 and 75 I'd say.How many companion/vanity pets were there in the MMO World of Warcraft as of April 2007?did you need to say it twice?

Any examples of escaped pets breeding with wild animals?
Any examples of escaped pets breeding with wild animals?
And possibly messing with the gene pool in the process?
Thanks a lot.Any examples of escaped pets breeding with wild animals?NO!Any examples of escaped pets breeding with wild animals?
domestic breeds of dogs cant breed with coyotes/wolves etc. their genes are too different.
the only possible examples i could think of would be rodents, some reptiles, rabbits, and fish. all of these species would have no impact on the behavior of the offspring. they are born in the wild and still have the same instincts as any other wild animal would.
its not really possible for the wild gene pools to be effected by escaped pets. ill point out the example of horses and donkeys mating, creating mules. mules have an odd number of chromosomes because the parents are different species. the mules are also sterile and unable to reproduceAny examples of escaped pets breeding with wild animals?not so sure how well that works out.. dogs can breed with coyote and wolves, but not likely that a wild female would accept a domestic male.
Even if a domestic animal did mate with a wild one.. if the resulting offspring do not have traits that will ensure survival, then they wont live long enough to contribute to the gene pool anyways.Any examples of escaped pets breeding with wild animals?
When my daughter was younger she wanted a white mouse like "stuart" so we got her one albino mouse. Well that one mouse had about 12 babies. We didn't know what to do with them. We were going to donate them to the pet store but my daughter was upset because she thought that they'd get eaten by a snake. So we went out into the woods behind our house and just let them go. We kept one. Several years later our cat likes to leave "presents" at the front door. And now 8 years later we are getting field mice that have white patches or black and white. So they obviously bred with the local mice. I haven't seen any albinos though.Any examples of escaped pets breeding with wild animals? It happens with birds. Domestic ducks often breed with Mallards, but the domestic genes last no more that a few generations, therefore having no negative effect on the wild stock genetic code.

Is it illegal to own all exotic pets in kentucky?
Last year kentucky banned dangerous exotic pets, but I guess the moronic government doesn't realize that dogs cause more deaths than any other pet, yet they are still legal. They mentioned tigers, lions, clouded leopards, leopards, snow leopards, jaguars, cheetahs, venomous snakes, dangerous primates, and quacker parakeets (which aren't dangerous). What are the other animals made illegal to own? Are servals, caracals, fennec foxes, coatis, pirahna, and large snakes still legal? Is it illegal to own all exotic pets in kentucky?it's illegal anywhere...Is it illegal to own all exotic pets in kentucky?you have to contact the animal center of tour town

alot of people answer and don't even know anything about it.

Is it illegal to own all exotic pets in kentucky?stupid question yo!Anyone know a list of states or cities that allow exotic pets?
I am not looking to purchase exotics as pets so please no lectures. Just looking for a list of states that allows them without having a license.Anyone know a list of states or cities that allow exotic pets?it is going to depend on the specific type of animal. Exotics can be pretty much anything from ferrets, spiders, and non-venomous snakes to wolves, large cats, large reptiles such as alligators to elephants. Each city, state or county is going to have there own definition of what they consider exotics and have there own rules about how they regulate them.Anyone know a list of states or cities that allow exotic pets?

I don't think any state will allow you to have an otter in the pool out back, or lions or tigers in your backyard. It's cruel to the animals and hazerdous to the species' longevity. If communities allowed it, there are enough nuts out there who will abuse exotic animals.Anyone know a list of states or cities that allow exotic pets? Each state has different rules on different animals. Some are illegal alltogether, others are allowed with permits.
California, and NYC have some of the stricter policies. The Mountain States and the Inner South have the fewest.Anyone know a list of states or cities that allow exotic pets?
I know in California they are very strict, however if you join a club for those exotic animals you can get away with it. Is making a law about how homeless people can't own pets unconstitutional or against our basic rights?
I have to make a law for my honors American Government and I came up with Homeless people shouldn't be allowed to keep pets and my teacher said it was good but I needed to make sure that it was not against the constitutional rights? Is it? I need a little bit of reasoning backing up your answer. Is making a law about how homeless people can't own pets unconstitutional or against our basic rights? All pets are considered personal property. You can not deprive a person of their personal property without due cause and proper procedure.
However, you can make it a requirement that all pets be registered with a fixed address for the owner and all pets must have all their shots up to date.Is making a law about how homeless people can't own pets unconstitutional or against our basic rights?
Sure it would be against the constitution. Look at the first Amendment and then go from there. Is making a law about how homeless people can't own pets unconstitutional or against our basic rights?I dont know but it is a good idea, obviously if it is a stray animal it wouldn't matter if they looked after it, but they shouldn't be allowed to purchase pets because if they can't afford to house and fed themselves how can they for a animal. Is making a law about how homeless people can't own pets unconstitutional or against our basic rights?
The US Constitution guarantees the fundamental right of property ownership.
Pets are typically defined under the law as property. Is making a law about how homeless people can't own pets unconstitutional or against our basic rights?to the point there should be a law like yours due to the fact that the homeless person not being able to give the pet proper nourishment and pay for shots and medical kneads for there pet that being the case the person could be charged for cruelty to animals so by not having a law like this the government is stating as long as you are homeless you can be cruel to pets how ever if you make even low income and are caught treating the pet the same way as a person with no money you may be charged and with no law like this in many places and homeless people haveing pets they are being pro cruelty to animals Is making a law about how homeless people can't own pets unconstitutional or against our basic rights?
well there is a law about not taking care of your pet..if your homeless, how exactly are you going to give adaquete shelter, food, vaccinations, are you going to leave the pet unnattended without a leash or yard? ..do you starve or let the dog starve?go to this site and read the answer to "are you allowed to own pets if you dont have housing for them"also read when can animal authorities take away your pets.the fact is if the homeless person is taking good care of their pet ,then there is no reason why they cant have one....even animal cops on the animal channel has let homeless have their pet back because they were being properly being cared for .it would be like me telling you that you cant have a pet because you have brown eyes...it doesnt matter that you would take care of the pet..you cant have it .see that would be unconstitutional.so yes your teacher is right.ive got a better law,try this ,how about harsher laws/fines for people who purposly abuse/neglect their pet?most fines are just a slap on the wrist with small amount of jail time or fines depending on the state you live in.

Is this a good idea to feed leftover food wastes to pets?
I heard a SPCA in my town finding difficult to get donations from well wishers. So the stray dogs cats are under fed. I am planning to collect leftover food wastes i.e fish bones, fish heads, chicken legs, chicken bones from a few restaurents nearby and supply to this SPCA on daily basis. Is these type waste foods is hygenic and healthy for pets?Is this a good idea to feed leftover food wastes to pets?Human food/leftovers are not really suited for a cat or dog diet but some foods are fine to feed them. Here is a list of leftovers to avoid however:
-Any cooked bones. These cannot be fed to dogs because when bones are cooked they become brittle, which causes them to splinter. This can cause a dog to choke. Cats can eat cooked bones (although not advised)
-Onions, garlic, mushrooms and tomatoes (cooked and raw)
-Most sweet things (cats and dogs are not really suited to sugar)
Raw meat is fine to feed to both cats and dogs because they have a stronger immune system than us. Raw bones are fine to because they are not brittle and are softer.
Good luck with the SPCA and feeding strays! Is this a good idea to feed leftover food wastes to pets?It can be if there not use to is. They have to pretty much babies so they can get use to eating whatever. It hasn't harmed any of the pets I know. My family had a beagle, and a boxer that ate everything. My husband and I have a pitt that eats everything. But we had them since puppies. When there wasn't any money to get them there food we would give them left overs. You would have to ask them if its ok what your doing. Good luck. And its a good thing what your doing.

Idea to help the population of unwanted pets?
I am a pet foster for the SPCA and I have learnt alot about them. I have also found that the majority of the donations to a local SPCA if only going to expand the facility. My problem though is that the should also put a few thousand aside to help people who can't afford the spaying and neutering of there pets. I know of atleast 3 people in my small town alone that has atlease 1 female cat that has not been spayed so they end up having babies every 2 months. I am thinking of starting an organization for people who cannot afford it. So the questions that remain are:
1. Do YOU agree with what the SPCA is doing?
2. Is this a good idea for me to start?
3. What are some idease for what I should sell and what I can do to help spread the word?
Thank you and please answer honestly.Idea to help the population of unwanted pets?Well, I think its a lovely idea to help stop the spread of unwanted pets... And it's a grand and noble idea on your part... However..... you're going to get slammed with people that have no business having animals, and take a free ride whenever they can get it. It's easy: If you can't handle the responsibilty, monetary or otherwise, then you shouldn't own an animal. And, unfortunatley, it's not like you have to go through any hoops to obtain a pet. So, anyone can get one, even those that shouldn't. Back to my point, yes it's a good idea..... The problem is you're going to get slammed with all of these people that just wanted to get the freebies wherever possible. You're best bet would be to contact a clinic or two, and see if they would be willing to offer you discounted spay/neuter services. Once that is set up, when people come to you, lay it down that you will HELP with the cost of the spay/neuter, however you will not do anything else. No tests, no exam, no medication, no vaccines, etc. If their pet needs something of that sort, then they need to pay for it. And, when it comes to the surgery... They have to put down what they can, and you take care of the rest. BUT, go about that aspect of it in a round about way, so that they can't just say, "Well, I don't have anything"
Anyways, goodluck... It's really hard.... the situation of people having animals when they shouldn't... And it's hard to say that, because I know first hand how much joy they can bring to a life, but people have to take into consideration the animals life too; what good are you doing for yourself or an animal if you can't properly take care of it?!?
I wish you the best of luck; I wish I had the resources to do such a thing.Idea to help the population of unwanted pets?
I think that if you can't afford a pet then you shouldn't have one. If you can't have it spayed or neutered then you shouldn't have it. Because once you start helping people with this then they want you to help with the shots and food and all. I'm very hard line about this. If you can't afford to take care of an animal then don't get it. There are some people in my town that will pay for other animals to be spayed or neutered. Some take them up on the offer and others refuse. Some people think it is the animal's right to have kittens or puppies twice a year and that the babies end up in the pound or dead.Idea to help the population of unwanted pets?I think that would be a good idea.Idea to help the population of unwanted pets?
in my town there is a similar organization called "planned pethood" but i don't think they do too much cuz of limited funding...good luck!Idea to help the population of unwanted pets? Many animal shelters do provide low-cost spay and neuter services (either at their own clinic or they provide vouchures to take to private vet clinics). These low-cost clinics are a vital part of the population control missions of many shelters and rescues. If you can, talk to the shelter you foster for to suggest that they do get on this bandwagon. It's highly unusual for a shelter to NOT be involved in low-cost/free spay-neuter.
But frankly, even when it's cheap or free, people still don't do it. They're lazy or they have weird ideas about their pet "wanting" to be a mommy or "feeling unmanly" after being neutered. They like having the cute baby animals even if they just end up dumping them at the shelter later. People suck. I like animals better. At least animals don't pretend to be anything other than animals.
1. I feel the same, they really should be doing something to help those who cannot afford the operation. I know that it would be helpful in almost any city/town in the USA.
2. You Go Girl!
3. How about collars (losing a loved pet can be an aweful thing you may even be able to get them personalized with names and phonenumbers). Contact any humane society in the area or even the Spay USA organization. The link is provided below..Idea to help the population of unwanted pets?
I live in a Canadian city, and there is a group here to help low income people with spaying/neutering their cats. I think that it's the best way to control the overpopulation of pets. Also, people should be educated about keeping cats indoors. They live 85% longer than outdoor cats, as well as having less problems that need to get them taken to a vet. And you can't forget the actions of people who don't like them, or who don't like them in their yards doing hurtful things just to make them go away. I think that yes, you should look into starting a program like this, but be cautious. You don't want to be taken advantage of, or end up paying for everything yourself. See if the SPCA in your area will help out. Check if there are any pet stores in your area that have charities, and how you can get on the list... that would help you enormously! I think the biggest problem is lack of knowledge, and the people who want their kids to see "the miracle of birth". If people knew the hardship that stray cats go through, being underfed, stressed by their environment, mean people, and multiple pregnancies from a very young age, they would change their minds about what constiyutes a "miracle". Sorry about the rant, but I feel very strongly about this.
Good Luck (keep us posted, okay?)
1. It's good that they are expanding but they should definitely have funds set aside for speuter programs. Because taking care of the problem before it's even born is much smarter than cleaning up afterward.
2. YES. Our local animal shelter calls it the "Stitch in Time" program. They will pay all or a percentage of the speuter cost.
3. First you need to set up a program to handle the money. And take donations for it. As far as selling things, our shelter makes homemade dog treats and sells them. They also will sell collars and leashes, toys, homemade bandanas, and homemade kitty toys. You could organize a pet parade or show with all donations going to the speuter program. And you can also ask gas stations and private petstores if you can set up a donation can.Idea to help the population of unwanted pets?
I think it is a great idea! It also sounds like a lot of work! i also don't believe that the SPCA should use all of the money to go to expansion. they really should keeps some for the animals as far as food, shots, and spaying and neutering goes. not to sure how to get things going? good luck
throw them all in a big bonfire.

Do birds make good pets for children?
I have a four and a half year old son. We live in an apartment so I am kind of limited as to what we can have. We do have a hamster. I would like to get a cockatiel or something like it, and I know that I would be the one taking care of it and all that, but do they make good pets for kids?Do birds make good pets for children?Depends on the child and the situation. Do your research, go to a breeder and see how he is with birds. Remember that birds are delicate and the unintentional hug or pet can end up with the bird in the emergency room costing hundreds of dollars.
How will your son react when bitten? A tiel bite will break the skin and is painful. It doesn't cause permanant damage, but even as an adult it hurts. All birds do bite, even finches when scared, defending themselves, their cage, or even just in play.
Well taken care of, a cockatiel will live 30 years. They are social, need toys and interaction.

Kudos to the mother for taking time to get info before making a decision that could be harmful to both the child and any pet she gets. We may not see birds at animal shelters but hundreds of dogs and cats are put to sleep forever when owners no longer want them.
I just read a report that birds have some kind of thing with them that can cause disease in humans and that people that have birds are far more seseptable to getting sick from having them because all of their poop and stuff lingers in their cages and is not healthy to be handled
I would never suggest a bird for a child of such a young age. Birds are pretty fragile and can most definitely bite. I think that a gold fish or betta can be great for teaching them responsibility. Birds are long lived and require loads of work and attention to become or remain tame.
In a couple of years possibly a hand weaned baby parakeet or cockatiel, just not as of yet. I think I was about 8 when I got my first budgie (parakeet) and he was a fantastic pet! I worked with him daily and he bonded with me like you wouldn't believe! He got outside once and I just called him and he flew back! Talk about getting lucky! He lived to be almost 15 years old!Do birds make good pets for children?
NO!
Kids might kill them, setting aside the factor of them hurting the child!
If you ALWAYS moniter the bird when its out ir when the child is near the cage, then ok.
But be ready ;-)
Birds are exotic pets, and are actually rather hard to care for, no matter the type of bird, and are generally unsuitable for children. For instance, small birds like budgerigars, finches and canaries are cute, easy to care for, and can mimic and sing quite well. However, a child can easily harm these small birds by trying to grab at them as they're interested by their pretty coloring and noise. These birds can bite, and can easily be killed. Moving up, medium sized parrots such as conures, lories and quakers sometimes have more complex diets and can be even more nippy and troublesome than big birds. Conures for instance are biters. They can also be hurt easily by children, but are louder, and can also hurt a child quite severely. Last but not least is the big birds; macaws, cockatoos, amazons, etc... They have very keen intellect and need consistent care, proper nutrition, lots of attention and toys. They can't be shoved away in a room away from humans, and can become very jealous of children and even friends and spouses.
In short, no - birds are definitely not the best pets you can get for children. They make great companions, but take a lot of work. Personally, a little creature like a rat (amazing pets, very gentle, never bite, very clean, affectionate and personable, highly trainable and intelligent) or MAYBE a guinea pig (if they're dropped, they can be killed easily) would be a good idea. But it's probably best to stick with some fish with a 4 year old.
HOWEVER, though it's a bit unusual, and may take a bit more work than a rodent, a pet duck makes a GREAT pet for children. They don't have sharp beaks so can't bite hard, are very gentle, forgiving, and imprint strongly on family so are very companionable. You can buy a duckling or egg for about a few dollars, and maybe less. It's not uncommon to find a few eggs or a duckling for free, or near to it. If you wanted to do a little project with him for incubating eggs, you'd need to supervise them a lot, but it'd be a great learning experience and ducklings and ducks are great pets.Do birds make good pets for children?
If your going to get your son a cockatiel make sure that it is young and handfeed they tend to be less squeamish around people. Also get a male your son my enjoy trying to teach it to talk.
any pet is fun for a kid. esp at first. you'll probably have to make sure it's cage is in a place that's out of reach of your son and he cant knock it over. this way you can supervise him if he wants to hold it so he doesnt get too hurt.
i'd also look up stuff on whatever bird(s) you want things like how often they bite or how to choose/train one (so) that is more family friendly...that way your son isn't getting hurt.
not for a child that young, well at that age, you'd be looking at doing all the maintenance of cleaning the bottom of the cage, feeding and changing water once or twice a day (birds are really messy! even the small finches.)
Birds also wake up as soon as the sun's up, and they're all loud. That might be undesirable for a young child... children usually have low tolerance levels, and birds aren't great for children until they're old enough to manage most of the care, like around 10 years old. or older. And remember Cockatiels Parakeets, or Lovebirds are usually untamed from petstores, and will bite hard- making undesirable pets that you just look at. Not very fun, considering these birds, from breeders, can be handfed and taught to bond with humans(cuddling, mocking etc).
But even a tame bird has to be handled daily for hours to keep them happy- they're easily stressed.
hope that helps!
Well, i dont know about the apartment mgr. but i do know that some apt. managers require am agreement or a pet deposit on pet birds in apartments. A parakeet would be a good starter bird. And yeah, for a 4 1/2 yr old... you will be the one doing all the cleaning and care for the bird. I bought my 5 yr old hamster cause she thought she just had to have one.. well now, 3 months later she dont even care that its even here now. She pays no attention to it at all. A cockatiel, is kinda loud. When I lived in my apt. my next door neighbor could hear it from her apt. So check what the requirements are by your apartment manager.
Well the kid would like it but unti either the bird is very well trained or the kid is very responsible because if youre rong wit da bird then da bird bites!
im my opinion if i was in your child's position i would kill the bird if it doesnt kill me first

It did bite a little but the solution was to wear gloves when i held it. I would recommend getting a bird for your child.Report Abuse

What are early signs of rabies in pets?
What are some early signs of rabies in animals (pets)? We came home tonight and found a dead raccoon in our driveway. We have two pets, a cat and a dog that were out while we were gone and we don't know how the raccoon got there or what it died from. If it was rabies, we're hoping that our cat or dog did not mess with it. If they did, we really need to know the signs early so that we can get them to the vet as soon as possible. Traveling through Canada, are pets required to be kenneled or behind barrier?

Stats on how many pets are euthanized yearly for overpopulation at shelters?
I am doing a report and I haven't found good reliable stats on how many pets are killed at shelters in the US and how much it costs the government to do that...
Any help is appreciated. :DStats on how many pets are euthanized yearly for overpopulation at shelters?it's nearly impossible to find stats from different sources that will agree on this. every locale has its own shelters - some are govt-run, some are non-profit animal shelters - and there is no single governing body that stats are reported to. there are no federal laws or organizations that require information be kept and sent in for census info on number of pets taken in, adopted and euthanized. the best you can do is get a general idea of what the numbers are, and cite the sources you got it from.
also, there is no costs projection on what the govt pays for this...because many many animal shelters are not funded in any way by govt money. my county alone has one govt-funded animal control and two non-profit animal shelters. all euthanize. any stats on costs would only reflect 1/3 of the money needed for this, not a true representation of all expenses by a long shot.
this is probably the closest i could find to something that seemed fairly official. they took what they knew for sure, then figured that this was a good representation of national trends and estimated as such. the info is several years old, but may help in some way.

and you could always generate our own projections by contacting your local animal control, like bonsylar suggests. they may not be very open to releasing that information, though, as it often puts them in a bad light if misinterpreted. so be prepared in case they don't divulge much beyond general statistics.Stats on how many pets are euthanized yearly for overpopulation at shelters? It varies by city.

Are people buying and caring for their pets in this bad economy?
I want to start a spay and neuter business now and i wanted to know if people are still in demand for pets. More demand means more business. Are ppl still buying pets? Are people buying and caring for their pets in this bad economy?Yes lots of people are buying pets but they a lot are also in no position to take care of said pets.
The shelter I volunteer at has had a swarm of people dropping off their pets in the last few months. They had to go buy 30 more kennel runs for recovery playtime (for spay, neuter, surgery patients) and are in the process of building a second building to accommodate the animals since they want to turn no one away. Are people buying and caring for their pets in this bad economy?
da majority of ppl arnt. Are people buying and caring for their pets in this bad economy?Yes, people are still buying pets. Unfortunately, people are still realizing that they can't afford that cute puppy they just bought because vet bills pile up or other numerous reasons. Then those puppies get dumped into our local shelters. Pounds and shelters are more full than ever.
If you want to start your own business, I highly recommend contacting your local vet offices and shelters. I'm sure there is GREAT need for low cost neutering clinics. You'd most likely do lots of business. Not only from individual citizens, but from the pounds and shelters as well. That being said, surely you understand that there's a LOT more too it than that. Are people buying and caring for their pets in this bad economy?
lots of ppl still have pets, although some are neglecting their pets needs (groomer visits, some vet visits, high quality food). i think ppl will always have pets, although how good they take of them and will continue to has yet to be seen. Are people buying and caring for their pets in this bad economy?ya lots of ppl do
yes definately people are still treating there pets and spending money on them, i work for pets at home the largest pet retailer in the country and are sales are going up and up, opening new stores and taking on new staff, it is eventually going to have to come to a head though. Are people buying and caring for their pets in this bad economy?
Maybe you should open a no kill shelter.

lol! thats a gooda ?. i know u..... isnt that kreepy?! YES! i agree wit ur ?

Is it possible to be an astronaut and still have pets of your own?
I have a dog, and eventually want to own two dogs and MAYBE a horse. This may sound like a stupid question, but whatever, here goes. Is it possible to be an astronaut and still have pets of your own? I'm guessing it would be hard because you're probably off doing a lot of missions? I would obviously have someone to take care of my pets while I'm away from home. Is it possible to have pets of your own and still be an astronaut?
PS- No rude answers please! Is it possible to be an astronaut and still have pets of your own?Yes, it's just like the rest of the military. When they deploy to Afghanistan or where ever, someone has to watch their pets.
Good luck getting into NASA though, it's tough. Is it possible to be an astronaut and still have pets of your own?

Who will care for all the pets left behind today?
Many republican christians will be gone by sun down but what about Fido?
Even though Republicans have a general disdain for animals, even they love their own dog.
Thank God they didn't get all the funding cut for animal shelters.
Or could it be that they will be able to take their pets with them.

How did your pets react to your pregnancy?
My neighbor told me her dogs were sniffing at her belly before she even knew she was pregnant with her first child. My dog hasn't seemed to notice yet (I'm 15 wks), but my cats insist on staying curled up on my tummy any time I lay down. I've noticed it's especially true with the cat that has had a litter of kittens before. Anyone else notice their pets reacting strangely when they got pregnant? How did your pets react to your pregnancy? My dog became very protective of me right about the time I found out I was pregnant. He used to just take of and run like a maniac when I took off his leash in the field where we walked, but he started staying closer, and even ran to me and growled at a lady who paused to talk to me while he was about 25 yards away. He slept on the floor beside my side of the bed, when he used to sleep in the living room, and when the baby was born, he was very protective of her as well. How did your pets react to your pregnancy?
That's amazing. Nature is so cool when it comes to babies.
My cat sits with me all the time. In the morning she's extremely affectionate. She wasn't like this before I was pregnant. I think she can sense something. It's weird. How did your pets react to your pregnancy? My cat does the same ;)How did your pets react to your pregnancy?
My dog (corgi, about 12 inches tall) tried to EAT my brother's Doberman Pinscher around my nephew when my nephew was a few weeks old, every time the pinscher came near.
She doesn't ever have regular contact with babies, but with babies and children, she will get extremely protective and growl at anything she thinks is dangerous. How did your pets react to your pregnancy?
I'm 11 wks and my dog if I'm sitting he's got his head on my tummy, if I'm laying he does too, he never would do this before i was pregnant and actually started before i found out, he used to have a chair that he claimed he'd lay in it all day b/c it has a view of the road and he can see out the door that way, but now he is where i am as long as I'm around. Also, he's about 12lbs. but he's all of the sudden gotten fierce w/ anything in his yard in fact there was a stray dog at least 80lbs looked like a wolf and he chased it out of the yard, this is the same dog who 6mo. ago cowarded away from my parents 5lb female poodle! I think they definetly know!!!

How do we justify the death and consumption of our pets?
Cow, pigs, and chickens are like our common pets dogs and cats in that they depend on us for survival. Therefore, if an animal is depending on us to survive, how do we justify slaughtering and eating it for dinner? How do we justify the death and consumption of our pets? Its disassociation. The same way we do not cry for every person who dies every day. If you don't know them, you don't care for them. The story is the key.How do we justify the death and consumption of our pets?
There's a big difference between pets and livestock. Cows, pigs, and chickens are raised with a goal in mind, that they become food. It looks like they're depending on us to survive at first, but then when you think about it, in the end we eat them, and therefore we depend on them to survive.
I can agree with you that the methods we use to make sure our livestock grows to the right size in the right amount of time, such as hormones and other drugging, aren't quite right. That's a tough thing to justify. I'm a die hard carnivore, but even in my callous eyes I know that modern meat is very unlike the livestock of our past.
You know, some cultures justify eating cats and dogs for dinner the same way. Food is food. Did you know that the most commonly eaten protein in the world comes from insects? Also, you only mentioned cows, pigs, and chickens. Did you know that goat is the worlds most eaten meat? How do we justify the death and consumption of our pets?We are putting use of the body and not just killing for fun. It a tasty and in my opinion, based off of the food chain, a natural thing. These are not pets that I truly call a pet, most people do not view cows and dogs on the same level. People that own cows typically depend on them for future food and milk. Eating meat of these animals has been a common thing. Also since we are animals we are a part of of the food chain... we eat things that probably ate thing. Either way, I do not look at a pig and feel the same lovable connection as other pets. How do we justify the death and consumption of our pets?
A friend of mine grew up on a farm. When his parents sold the farm to move to a new country his mom slaughtered her favorite goose and cooked it up for dinner. Nobody at the table could eat it, so they buried it in the yard. Meanwhile they had a neighbor who was struggling and hungry.
If you kill your pets you had damned better well eat them or it is a crying shame. With all the people who are hungry in the world you are going to start limiting food sources?
Now if you made the argument FOR cannibalism I might have a hard time disagreeing. But spare me this pet mentality. Pet mentality comes directly at the diminishing of human worth. Those who value pets over human needs are "pet nazis" and are against the human race.
Oh, by the way, I have been a vegetarian for over 30 years. How do we justify the death and consumption of our pets?because animals were meant to be eaten. however, since we are selfish humans sometimes we chose to care for one for our own entertainment. im sure cats and dogs love to run wild more than they like to be trapped in a room all day long. How do we justify the death and consumption of our pets?
It's the same as when the aliens harvest our souls. They watch over us and guide us when we're alive but when we die they swoop in and suck our souls out even though they at least act like they care. How do we justify the death and consumption of our pets?
according to hindu mythology we don't kill and eat animals ....... its better not to have them as energy you get from them is very less

Can you even keep them as pets?Fennecs are nocturnal foxes indigenous to the Sahara, not sure if it's legal or not, but wouldn't think it would be fair to keep one as a pet, as they are out and about when we're sleeping and it wouldn't be right to keep them up during the dayIs it legal to have a pet fennec in the state of California. Can you even keep them as pets?It is illegal to keep fennec's as pets...
Also...it just isn't right that just because you find something cute, youimmediatelyy want to buy it, fennecs belong in their natural habitat, with other fennecs, and besides i wouldn't of thought a fennec would make a good pet anyway, and it would be a lot of work...it'd just end up neglected..
Sorry but that is my opinion...why don't you get a cat or dog...they're good pets and they're cute!
Hope i helped...

Do ou think close relationships with pets are good?
Many people have a close relationship with their pets. These treat their pets as a member of their family. I think it is lovely and thoughtful.
In your opinion, are such relationships good? Can you give me your proper reason?Do ou think close relationships with pets are good?Yes I definitely think so. My dog and I are friends for years. I鈥檝e always thought he wasn't such a smart dog who only wants to have fun. However, I realized that he is the one who always cares about me. When I鈥檓 depressed, he is the very first one who came to cheer me up. We cannot literally talk to each other, however through the way he looked at me, I could feel he is worried. That kinds of feeling just made me so warm.Do ou think close relationships with pets are good?
%26lt;-------------I could NOT imagine life without my canine boy, Pilot. He gives me laughs, happiness, comfort, hugs, warmth, and more joy than possible to put into one YA Post. There simply is not enough room here.
He is my therapy.
He is my friend.
He is devoted to me.
He follows me everywhere.
He brings me my slippers!!
He is happy and that happiness transfers to me!
When my family is away, he is my companion/I'm not alone.
When I'm sad, he stares in my face, and he's so cute, I smile.
He looks at me with his "red binky" and I forget my bad day.
He loves to be brushed, which is more therapy for me.
He wags his tail when I walk in the door....happy, happy!!
To say " wanna go for a walk" is like a day at "Disneyland"!!!
When my past goldens passed, Pilot filled my heart!
It's all in his eyes........they seemingly speak to me!
Need I say more?.... Urf urf!! :o)Do ou think close relationships with pets are good?I think that's perfectly fine to love your pet as a member of the family. I know I've loved my pets, and when my dog of 14 years passed away last summer, I was heartbroken.Do ou think close relationships with pets are good?
I think they're terrific. I treat my maltese as my son. I take him to the park, let him go down the slides, he swings with me, and on his birthdays he gets a honey-peanut butter-carob chip cake. I wouldn't live without him. Personally, I think it's great having a strong bond with your pet. Research says some people live a better, fuller life who have and adore their pets. But for a short, sweet, to-the-point answer, yes. I think it's great having a sweet little furry son to take care of.Do ou think close relationships with pets are good?My pets have always been a member of the family. They are treated with respect and lots of love. I raised my daughters from birth with pets, so that they would know from the beginning how to love, respect and compassion toward all living things..
a close relationship majorly impacts the time spent with ur pet
if u r not close he/she may not obey your as well
the pets also need lots of love and being close to them will supply that
its also said animals with great owner relations live longer
of course it will be harder when they pass but you know you lived the best you could with that companion and theyll always be thereDo ou think close relationships with pets are good?
A good relationship with a pet is WONDERFUL. It has actually been scientifically proven to lengthen and improve the quality of your life.
However, often times you see people treating their dogs like their babies. They carry them around, they dress them up, the feed them people food, etc. This actually hurts the dog! The dog's confused about who the alpha is and starts to become one. Not good.
I think a pet IS a member of the family. My dog George is like my brother, and my dog Snowy is like my sister. (And, sometimes, I find myself treating them like that instead of like a dog!)
In my opinion, there is no reason to have a pet if you are not willing to nurture a close relationship with it. What is the point of having a cat/dog/rabbit/guinea pig, etc if you are just going to treat it "like an animal"?
In my view of the world, animals are far more forgiving than humans, they have no preconceived ideas and they look to us for guidance and affection and care and fun. If we cannot provide that, why have them?
It's kind of like having children...if you are not willing to nurture and support them and give them the love an guidance they are going to need, why have them?
At the time I was young and energetic enough to contemplate having children I was in a relationship that simply would not have been viable or conducive to starting a familt. By the time I was in a stable relationship, it was pretty much too late and we got dogs instead. Yes, they have taken the place of children since we have none but they are well cared for and their unquestioned love for us is awesome.
I am NOT suggesting that they replace kids!!! That was just MY experience in life....BUT having had cats and dogs in my life has enriched it immesurably.Do ou think close relationships with pets are good?
It is absolutely a good thing. All my pets are family, I don't get how people can just toss them outside as lawn ornaments.
Yes because you will always know your dogs loves you aand remembers you which is always a good feelings
Studies have proven that pets are therapeutic and that people with pets recover from injury and illness much more quickly then people who live a petless life.
My two cats are my life. My seven year old cat is my second mother (my bed time is still eight, or else she meows forever- LOUDLY!) My two huskies are also my life. I will be fostering kittens and maybe a mother and kittens or a pregnant momma cat soon, and I'm pretty sure that they are going to change my life in a good, positive way. Over the winter months, I will be fostering older cats.
Great question!!!
Yes. They are my happy medicine. Mine are like my babies. I cannot have children so they are mine. I was clinically depressed before I had my puppies. They give me motivation to do lots of things like excersising. I have also been to counseling and my therapist also thinks animals can be very helpful. Not to mention they can make you feel safe. Pets are the one thing that will give you unconditional love and will never judge you based on looks. They judge based on how you treat them. You don't have to worry what you wear or look like and they are always there to greet you and love you.
i have a fatherly relationship with all of my dogs i own 41 apbt and they all trust me and i trust them expeshelly in the 14x16x3 so i would say yes without a doubt

What are the silliest things your pets do?
The craziest of mine has to be my French Lop, not just because of her crazy constant binkies but she is mad for toys, throwing them about and kicking them around, she also has an obsession with chinese food though i don't let her eat it she goes mad trying to get some and she is very jealous of any other pets she sees and goes to headbutt them.x
Do you have any crazy pets and what do they do?What are the silliest things your pets do?My Birds, i let them fly around in my house i have very high ceilings and i have a high arch window and the wild birds hang out there, my parakeet teases them and does all kinds of stuff. while they are freezing.
My Dog, she loves food and is a full breed beagle, and very intelligent and make up new ways for us to get her attention to make us feed her, for example she'll want us the lift up the toilet to get a drink ( we give her a bowl of water) and she'll run to the closet and trick us, or act as if she wants to go outside and scratch on the door then lead us to the door again she comes up with new things every day.
I have other pets and they do alot of other things too. What are the silliest things your pets do?
My Mums cat gets really depressed when she is on holiday and I have to look after him. He sits in the corner and stares at the wall. What are the silliest things your pets do?my cats run up tree's and then back flip off of them about 4 times in a row. it's so funny (:What are the silliest things your pets do?
After my cat is done getting a drink of water, he'll walk up to the refrigerator and meow at it for a good 5 minutes - it's like he's waiting for it to say something. He looks at it so expectingly. Lol.What are the silliest things your pets do?i have a 2 male and female cats and when visitor comes in my house and cats start doing s3xing front of visitors i was so embarrassed.
When I knock on the window, my chihuahua will jump over the other chihuahuas back constantly. Then she runs around the other dog like if she was surrounding it.What are the silliest things your pets do?
Our dog is a canine version of the T-Rex in A Night At The Museum. He chases everything with so much enthusiasm. He is mad about balls, rubber balls, tennis balls, even footballs. The funniest thing is when he already has a ball in his mouth and he sees a new one, he can't understand why he can't get another one in his mouth lol
When he was alive, my dog Rags used to constantly paw at my feet until I took my socks off and let him lick my toes!! He also used to eat a whole dish if mince and peas and managed to leave a shiny bowl full of peas.. Maybe not silly but certainly funny. What are the silliest things your pets do?
my cat is like a dog. he drinks out of the toilet, he loves going in the car and sticking his head out the window, (in fact, he figured out how to control the windows going up and down) and then he's part human, because he sits like an actual person. he'll sit with his back against the couch and his feet out in front of him.
but i still love him :)
My budgie regularly sits with the bell from his mirror on his head for minutes at a time. My chickens peck on the back door when they want me to feed them, then jump onto my feet as soon as I step outside for a ride to the feed shed, lol!
my dog likes to dry hump on someones legs so its preferable that you were pants when your around my dog :D
my two gerbils go mad for apple!
they dangle from the ceiling and try to escap when they smell it!
one did a backflip!
my dog sasha she gets in her basket puts her head under her beding and just flings it all out, and keeps chucking it about with her head and rolls over it lol! one of us should film it and send it to youve been framed haha.

my cat shaves my eyebrows off when im drunk and asleep

What is the weirdest, stupidest, scariest or funniest question you have ever seen on Pets?
What is the weirdest, stupidest, scariest or funniest question you have ever seen on Pets, I've seen some pretty weird ones, but let's hear about yours!
Just in pets please! What is the weirdest, stupidest, scariest or funniest question you have ever seen on Pets?My dog once emptied the bathroom bin during my "time of the month" I live in a bungalow, so the bathroom is situated to the right of my back door, (which was open at the time) He had unrolled the used s.t's and rolled in them, and they stuck all over his back. Before I had realised what he had done, he went to greet the postman, wearing 6 used s.t's. The MOST embarrassing moment of my life without exception!!! I still cannot look at my postman 4 years on!!!!What is the weirdest, stupidest, scariest or funniest question you have ever seen on Pets?Honestly, it's all the scary questions from people with seriously ill pets who are wasting time here instead of seeking vet care. That, and all the people with pregnant cats- ever hear of spaying and neutering?
The stupidest was one from a guy who had put a 7 week old kitten in the bathroom with food, water and a litter box and expected her to learn how to eat hard food (without having been weaned from it's mother) and use the litter box. He couldn't understand why the kitten was crying and peeing everywhere. What is the weirdest, stupidest, scariest or funniest question you have ever seen on Pets?I saw a cat with it's tale stuck to it's eye, and the paw was backwards. Suprisingly, that cat wasn't in any pain. What is the weirdest, stupidest, scariest or funniest question you have ever seen on Pets?
someone once asked what to do with a cyclone kitten! they had a pic of it and it was gross and scarry!

Why do some people treat their pets as if they gave birth to them?
No dog or cat will ever sleep in the same bed with me, or lick my mouth, or stand on my kitchen table.
I'm sorry, but some restaurants are even allowing people to bring their pets to the table. It's not right because there are still certain establishments that don't even want to serve specific types of "people". This is the greatest country in the world, but some barriers are broken for pets that took decades for some human beings to achieve and I find that kind of twisted. In the case of someone with a disability,
I can see and understand exceptions to the rule. Why do some people treat their pets as if they gave birth to them?Because they're delusional! There's even a name for people who ascribe human attributes to non humans it's called (anthropomorphism.)Why do some people treat their pets as if they gave birth to them?
Freedom of choice.
In your own home you make the rules that you are comfortable with.
In my home, I make my own rules that suit me and my pets.
We all have different personalities, likes and dislikes.
Research has even now shown that the same chemical that bonds
a new born baby and mother when breast feeding, are also released
in human and dog when petting the dog. This is called Oxytocin.
If there are restaurants that you don't like, don't go in them, they are
there for those who LIKE them and WANT the service they provide.
There are hotels that allow pets, and there are hotels that don't
allow pets.
I don't go back where I was not welcome before..I find where I am welcome.
If a place does not offer what I need, I can go else where.
It is impossible, to have one set of rules and have everyone happy. Why do some people treat their pets as if they gave birth to them?Because people love there animals. Some people cant or dont wanna have kids so they take there pets as there kids. I dont see nothing wrong with it, everyone and everything needs love and food and water. I love and take good care of my aniamls and my weiner dog sleeps with me every night, she eats with me at the table and even off my fork. I guess if you dont like it then dont look or say anything! Everyone is different, atleast there is people that look after and love there animals. Why do some people treat their pets as if they gave birth to them?
I feel sorry for you. Does that mean that if you adopted a child you shouldn't love it as much as one you gave birth to? Some people can't have children, or they have a lot of love to give, or they just love animals. I suggest you don't eat at those restaurant and be a little more understanding about the needs of "those types of people"Why do some people treat their pets as if they gave birth to them?i guess it depends if your a pet person we have 2 dogs a labrador and a jack russell and they are treated as part of the family they are allowed on the couch sleep in the bed and are very well behaved dogs why have a dog for a pet and keep it locked outside in all weathers working dogs maybe but domesticated pets are for loving and if you treat them right the rewards are endless.
Because they lack the social skills to project their love onto humans. They cannot comprehend the fact that a dog is a dog and that is all it ever will be.
Comparing buying a dog to adopting a child is sickening. Why do some people treat their pets as if they gave birth to them?
my dog and cat sleep with me. i bathe my puppy 2xs a week and my cat is extremely clean. they are great friends and most people feel like they are family.
You know people that let there pets lick their mouths? Eww.Why do some people treat their pets as if they gave birth to them?
Greatest country in the world eh? Get off your soap box and stop licking animals mouths.
I would never behave in that kind of way...however, having 3 cats and a young dog all of them from a very young age and spending much time training them and being with them and seeing all their different personalities..they can sometimes feel like children, especially if you don't have any of your own. Our dog doesn't sleep with us...the cats sometimes do because they sneak on after we've fallen asleep and we wake up with them there. I would never bring my pet to the table. Our dog lays on his dog bed when we're eating, and the cats will try and get on the table when they think they can get away with it, but they do get taken off if we see them.
such a good question!!!! I will never understand it either... human beings are not living under such good circumstances like the dogs and cats....

What are the other types of pets I can keep in a Aquarium?
What are the other types of pets one can keep in an Aquarium in India. Tortoise %26amp; Turtles are banned in India as pets. is their any other? Please suggest a few. Both for freshwater %26amp; saltwater Aquarium. What are the other types of pets I can keep in a Aquarium? It really depends on the size of your aquarium.
Here are some options that are interesting: You can keep an Axolotl, this salamander should live in a species only tank and is very peculiar looking, heres a link: http://www.theaquariumwiki.com/Ambystoma鈥?/a>
Another option is the pipa pipa toad, this is a very weird looking toad not the prettiest but weird nonetheless :http://www.tnaqua.org/Animals/YOFimages/鈥?/a>
Another option is the crayfish, its not really a fish its more like a freshwater lobster, these critters are known to have distinctive personalities and are really fun to watch(i used to have one) :http://www.theaquariumwiki.com/Cherax_qu鈥?/a>
Another option is snails: Theyre not the most fun animal around, people usually get snails such as the apple snail or mystery snail to graze on algae in the tank but its an option nonetheless, heres a list of snails :http://www.theaquariumwiki.com/Category:鈥?/a>
You can get crabs which are very beautiful and interesting, the red claw crab and Harlequin Crab are very beautiful crabs that can thrive in a 10 gallon tank! heres a lilst of crabs: http://www.theaquariumwiki.com/Category:鈥?/a>
Shrimps are also a possibility :http://www.theaquariumwiki.com/Category:鈥?/a>
Good luck !What are the other types of pets I can keep in a Aquarium?Well, when it comes to fish, in order for us to suggest something, we have to get a general idea of the size of the tank. If you don't have a constant air conditioning going, then you probably want to go with a Tropical Freshwater set-up if where you live stays warm all year. Coldwater fish really need to stay in temperatures no higher than 76 degrees Fahrenheit.
Also, Marine (saltwater) set-ups are a lot of work and really best when you have more experience under your belt and a lot of money to purchase all of the equipment needed to keep the aquarium running up to par.
I would recommend you do a lot of research first, Fishless Cycle your tank and then after it's cycled decide on what type of fish you want to keep in there. Good luck and check out the links! What are the other types of pets I can keep in a Aquarium?a baby chick

People not cleaning up after their pets - neighborhood solutions?
Has anyone had any success in getting neighbors to clean up after their pets? It's an issue in my neighborhood.
Some people are suggesting distributing fliers asking people to do so or installing those little bag stations ...but I say (sadly) that the kind of folks that don't pick up after their pets, aren't going to suddenly start doing so because of a flier, or a plastic bag station!
Any suggestions?People not cleaning up after their pets - neighborhood solutions?Put up a sign with penalty on it so that the owners will clear it up.
Put a fence around your garden so the dogs cant get in.
If you see someone not picking the p** up look and stare at them out your window to make them feel intimidated.
Ask the council to put a penalty in place.People not cleaning up after their pets - neighborhood solutions?
Few thoughts.
1. when their dog is pooping on your yard, go out and stand there and wait for them to pick it up. If they dont, say, "arent you forgetting to pick up after your dog?"
2. People have suggested finding the dogs owners house and taking the poop over there and dumping it on their lawn
3. You could get a sign from a lawn company stating that chemicals were placed on the lawn that are extremely harmful to pets.
4. You could just ask the person politely to clean up after their pet.People not cleaning up after their pets - neighborhood solutions?Give them a chance with the fliers. If that doesn't work, and you know who the culprits are, here is what to do:
Collect the poop in a bag (or bags if there is more than one culprit) and sneak over in the middle of the night and leave the bag on their porch/stoop/hood of their car. After a few drop offs, I think they'll get the picture.
They should be embarrassed enough to start picking up after their critters. If not, start returning the poop without the bag around it!People not cleaning up after their pets - neighborhood solutions?
Unfortunately there is only one way to solve this. Make more noise. It is illegal so the humane society and the police need to get involved. And yeah it wont end pretty but it will eventually make a difference. good luckPeople not cleaning up after their pets - neighborhood solutions? It's a problem everywhere! I have seen some really nice landscaping and the owner will take thier dog there and let is do his business and then walk off like nothing ever happened. It's drives me crazy. I think their should be laws. Gatlinburg TN just passed one there. Maybe you can get that started in your city or neighbor hood organization. It is littering right? One of my neighbors put the poop in the dog owners mailbox! It worked, but I wouldn't recommend it.People not cleaning up after their pets - neighborhood solutions?
I sympathize with you. but you can't change people's attitudes. Don't even try. Just keep putting it in the garbage. Do NOT compost it. Pets have parasites that can easily be spread to humans.People not cleaning up after their pets - neighborhood solutions?
When someone allows their dog to poop in my yard %26amp; the owners make no attempt to clean it up, I say to them, "Excuse me, but I think you forgot something didn't you?" They act embarrased %26amp; say they're sorry %26amp; they'll clean it up, but they produce no plastic/paper bag. I have gone back into my house %26amp; gotten them a bag, so they can clean up after their dog. I thank them %26amp; tell them I appreciate them cleaning it up because now I won't have to follow them home %26amp; poop in their yard, since I have no dog. Fliers may be a waste of time unfortunately. Do you have a city ordinance against dog's pooping in yards? Maybe you can remind those violaters that there's one in your city. Good luck!
In many cities there is an ordenance to that effect. Check with them and see if it can be enforced.

Can the new owners of an apartment building stop allowing pets?
I've lived for 8 years in an apartment I chose because it allowed my cat. The building just got new owners that I know don't allow pets in their other buildings. Should I be worried? Can the new owners of an apartment building stop allowing pets?If you have a current lease, it should hold up for the term of the lease. If you are on a month to month, the new owners would have to give you at lease 30 days notice before they changed the terms and ask you to sign a new lease. Any sane landlord would let you keep the cat since any damage has been done by now and good tenants are hard to find. Can the new owners of an apartment building stop allowing pets?
Make sure you go to them with a copy of your lease, show them where it says that you're allowed to have pets. If they sign a new lease with you, it can say whatever it wants and if you sign it, you have to hold to it. If they just go on a month to month lease, you're somewhat safe, as well as if they decide to allow pets. Can the new owners of an apartment building stop allowing pets? Not if you already live there. Can the new owners of an apartment building stop allowing pets?
Are you on a yearly or monthly tenancy ??? If monthly, then you may need to seek advice from the local Housing Authority (if the new owners are adamant about no pets)....may want to get together with other pet owners in the complex on this as wellCan the new owners of an apartment building stop allowing pets?As an apartment manager for a large nationwide owner/management company, here's what I know:
Until you sign a new lease with them, they cannot force you to move/get rid of your pet. However, once your lease is getting close to expiring, they can ask you to move because of your pet if you are not willing to find it a new home. If you sign a new lease with them, you have to abide by the terms and policies set forth in the new lease.
Good Luck - and may I recommend my company for your future housing needs, depending on where you live? www.equityapartments.com Most of our communities are pet friendly!muffler

American allows you to fly a dog 10#'s on board with you in a pet carrier for $50.00 and a health certificate from the vet. I don't know if they allow the same for a cat but you can call them at

Why do many people moan when people dont get their pets fixed?
So many people moan on YA! about getting ya cat or dog fixed because of the increase of unwanted pets in the RSPCA shelters etc... then why dont they preach that women or men in 3rd world countries should be fixed due to poverty, HIV, malnutrition and the life expectancy of a child being extemely young? Why do many people moan when people dont get their pets fixed?Because animals depend on us to make the right decisions for them. It is our responsibility to prevent ovarian and testicular cancer in our pets by fixing, it is our responsibility to make sure sickly puppies are not born to dogs that should never have been bred in the first place by fixing, and it is our responsibility to make sure the world does not have any more than the already tragically high number of unwanted pets by fixing. To do any less is irresponsible.
Humans can and must make their own decisions. A human can say, "I will not have children." but an animal can't. They are driven by instinct when it comes to sex, and they will breed and breed if allowed to. A human can say, "no more," but a dog can't. It is up to us as responsible pet owners to say it for them, to protect their health and the pet population at large. Why do many people moan when people dont get their pets fixed?
Because in your local shelter there are 60 cats, there are 5 shelters in your area and shelters cover the whole country. Do the maths. And this is for the sake of the 拢20 that it takes to neuter a cat. All my cats are rescued and neutered.
Although I am worried that you compare animal neutering with the rights of humans to have dignity, choice and freedom, you are right in that it is important to be aware of all issues that we face our world today (including the environment). As you mentioned the third world, there are many organisations that would love your support, even if its just financially. If you feel that you have (or can learn) the skills to help people that's great they would love volunteers. I've put some links below to some organisations that I support personally. Why do many people moan when people dont get their pets fixed?I DO!! And its not just third world countries that should stop breeding the crap I see. People suck they no longer have an ability to process information and learn from previous mistakes. They shouldn't breed!!!
If one kid is dumber than a box of rocks don't have anymore!!!
If you are dumber than a box of rocks then you shouldn't have kids!!Why do many people moan when people dont get their pets fixed?
AN ANIMAL TRUSTS AND DEPENDS ON YOU,IF YOU ARE NOT POSESSED OF THESE QUALLITIES, THEN YOU ARE WORTH NOTHING ,AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO KEEP A PET.AS FOR MANS INHUMANITY TO HIS FELLOW MAN,WHY CHANGE THE HABITS OF A SPECIES??ANYONE CAN MOAN AND CRITICISE,VERY FEW EVER DO ANYTHING.Why do many people moan when people dont get their pets fixed? We can't control what people do. we can control what our pets do. If you are going to take on the responsibility of getting a pet, then you need to take care of it. getting a pet spayed or neutered is healthier for them. Many live longer more quality lives. Again there are so many pets in shelters because people don't neuter or spay there pets. Why let your pet go through the trauma of pregnancy and birth just so there kittens, puppies....can go sit in a kennel at a shelter and most likely be euthanized. Our pets deserve better than that.
maybe they do but it is not appropriate to express this when talking about animals in Yahoo Q %26amp; A the two subjects are not related and. both come under the heading education, but it is easier to advise when a problem is brought to your attention and not when it is 1000s miles away. Why do many people moan when people dont get their pets fixed?
The reason why pets need to be fixed is because they can't rationally think, oh, if I have puppies/kittens they'll have to be rehomed etc etc etc.
People in 3rd world countries are being taught to use condoms to protect themselves from overpopulation.
Do you really expect someone to go to all the 3rd world countries and fix all the people?
your right and the world is trying to do this through educating people its a slow process , but its the only one human rites will let us use.Why do many people moan when people dont get their pets fixed?
not sure why you are comparing human disease with pets being fixed ? but anyway i agree completely with people moaning about getting them done and just letting them breed and over breed.
there is a problem with rescues being overrun with unwanted pets and babies , but i think that there should be tighter laws on pet buying, its too easy to go into a shop and buy a cute little pet!
Tuh, half the people I know going on about getting animals spayed or neutered have at one time or another mentioned that people in 3rd world countries should do the same thing to themselves when they've had 2 kids. Don't really think it's the same thing though. People aren't going around having babies put down.
i agree with amanda
Animals don't understand anything about population explosions and are only following hormonal instincts. If they lived wild they wouldn't breed if there was no territory and food available! Nature controls the wild populations. Only one female dog in the wild breeds but A pet animal can produce a lot of offspring in its life-time and those off-spring are mature enough to breed in months not years as in the case of humans. We CAN and SHOULD control the population.
People are not animals and the breeding cycle is different. Those in the third world are very lucky if their off-spring make it to maturity, and I'm sure if they had all the benefits you enjoy without even thinking about it they would control their populations accordingly. Perhaps it is us in the West who should be fixed? We don't need to have the number of children we do!
Forget the problems of the third world, why do we keep pets?
Take next doors cat, it kills all the birds in my garden, it will kill frogs, small rodents and insects too, it is an environmental nightmare. Its not as if it is eating the damn creatures, it bloody murder, and I know that it is well fed, because it also then cra-ps in my garden too.
The owner just said, 'oh, its marking its terrortory' but it is not his terrotory, its mine, and I don't want if full of the cats cr=ap. I told her, that how would she feel if I came around to her house, ate her pet zebra finches, and crap-ed in her sink? I said I would shoot the bloody cat if she did not fit it with a bell to scare off the wild life, because it was damaging the ecco system in my garden... I await to see what she has done...
Because 3rd world countries have their own sets of values and beliefs that will take a LONG time to change. Superstitions are still more valuable than education in a lot of places. When the USA goes in to try and help/fix things, we're accused of being an imperialistic country and it gets the global community all riled up.
As residents of a civilized country, its our responsibility to take care of our animals and act in their best interests.
I do agree with you...it should not be so one sided. However, this section is on pets. Maybe you should look in to it a little more in one of the other sections of ya.
I also think men and/or women in the US should have guidelines on reproduction. We have just as many unwanted, uncared for, abused, and neglected children here. They should be our first priority!
If you own a dog or cat its your responsability to keep it healthy and happy. And thats it.
Because animals die.
It's cruel not to fix them.
Who cares about 3rd world countries? Problems here in the US should be a priority.
Kids grow up to be like thier parents, anyway. What's the point.
Humans can and must make their own decisions. A human can say, "I will not have children." but an animal can't. They are driven by instinct when it comes to sex, and they will breed and breed if allowed to. A human can say, "no more," but a dog can't.
