What animals are legal or illegal for pets in PA?

I am not looking to get a pet right now, as my living situation (rent controlled apartment) doesn't allow for any. However, when I finally do move-latest is May 2011, I would like to know what kinds of pets are allowed in PA. Granted, I love dogs, some cats, rats, and even ferrets, but I want to be one of those brave few that takes care of an uncommon pet CORRECTLY!.

There doesn't seem to be an obvious clear list of which animals belong on the legal or illegal list. Any advice? What animals are legal or illegal for pets in PA?Most exotics require permits. (With exception of reptiles) this site explains all the exotic laws in PA and has links to species and numbers you can call to verify info.

Exotic wildlife includes, but is not limited to all bears, coyotes, lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars, cheetahs, cougars, wolves, and any crossbreed of these animals, which have similar characteristics in appearance or features. However, there are no state requirements for a person possessing non-human primates and reptiles.
