Why do you think people are humanizing their pets?

There has been quite a bit written about all the money people are spending on pets these days, and how people are humanizing them. Why do you think this is occuring at this time in history? Why do you think people are humanizing their pets?Honestly? Because they act more human (or "humane") than human people these days. Why do you think people are humanizing their pets?
Because the markets are providing so many "humanizing" ways. Why do you think people are humanizing their pets?I adore my 2 cats and they are very pampered, but I would not attempt to humanize them. They are animals, lovely creatures and not toys. Why do you think people are humanizing their pets?
Some people have emotional failures and they need to fill that space in their souls with something that make them feel like they're not alone! For example, an elderly women, she doesn't have daughters or sons, so she takes care of her dog (or cat, or some other pet) pretending that it is her child, dressing it with little cute clothes, perfuming them, etc...

Some other people do that just to show off!

They think is trendy to dress the pet!

Personally I think that's a violence form to the pet and it's very unnatural!

kiss xxWhy do you think people are humanizing their pets?i totally agree with the first personWhy do you think people are humanizing their pets?
I spoil my pets rotten. But they all listen to me. think dressing them up is overboard. But that's my opinion. I guess it's how you feel. Another thing its better than some people physically abusing animals. Why do you think people are humanizing their pets?
humans are just another animal i don't see why other animals should be treated with any less respect or humanity as you like to put it
This is actually a rather confused view by the media. There are two different types of people spending more on their pets.

There are those that are 'humanizing' their pets by spending money on things animals really do not need, like clothes, fancier collars and carry-bags.

Then, there is another camp that has realized the 'humanizing' we've been doing is harmful and we're spending more money, but, differently..

Look at most dog foods on the market. Most of them contain mostly grains even though just about anyone could tell you that a dog is more then likely a carnivore. Your average person looks at the ingredients, says "Ah, grains, those are healthy", because they're healthy for humans. That's a good example of unhealthy humanizing. Where would your dog have found those grains in the wild? Even if it would have found them, I doubt it would have contributed to more then half of its diet like most commercial foods do now.

I have ended up spending a bit more because I'm not feeding my dog like he's a little human. I'm feeding him real food a carnivore would've eaten.

There are a lot of other people doing more of their own research when it comes to dog food and feeding their pets a more species appropriate diet.

Whenever I talk about it with someone though, your average individuals response is, "Why? It's just a dog?" Exactly, it IS a dog. But, as someone who has chosen to care for a species other then my own, I have to do the research on HOW to care for that species appropriately rather then just using what would be ideal to me..

Of course though, there is the group I mentioned previously that are spending ludicrous amounts of money on silly things pets don't really benefit all that much from. I find that particularly silly if they also aren't feeding a good diet, just putting fancy clothes on it that does nothing more then hamper coat growth.. I think that's an example of almost 'brooding' behavior.. Women are waiting longer to have children and I believe many of them are frustrated by that and thus treat the dog as if it is a surrogate child..

All you have to do is look at the way celebrity children and dogs even are dressed to understand who people are choosing to copy..
