I have to make a law for my honors American Government and I came up with Homeless people shouldn't be allowed to keep pets and my teacher said it was good but I needed to make sure that it was not against the constitutional rights? Is it? I need a little bit of reasoning backing up your answer. Is making a law about how homeless people can't own pets unconstitutional or against our basic rights? All pets are considered personal property. You can not deprive a person of their personal property without due cause and proper procedure.
However, you can make it a requirement that all pets be registered with a fixed address for the owner and all pets must have all their shots up to date.Is making a law about how homeless people can't own pets unconstitutional or against our basic rights?
Sure it would be against the constitution. Look at the first Amendment and then go from there. Is making a law about how homeless people can't own pets unconstitutional or against our basic rights?I dont know but it is a good idea, obviously if it is a stray animal it wouldn't matter if they looked after it, but they shouldn't be allowed to purchase pets because if they can't afford to house and fed themselves how can they for a animal. Is making a law about how homeless people can't own pets unconstitutional or against our basic rights?
The US Constitution guarantees the fundamental right of property ownership.
Pets are typically defined under the law as property. Is making a law about how homeless people can't own pets unconstitutional or against our basic rights?to the point there should be a law like yours due to the fact that the homeless person not being able to give the pet proper nourishment and pay for shots and medical kneads for there pet that being the case the person could be charged for cruelty to animals so by not having a law like this the government is stating as long as you are homeless you can be cruel to pets how ever if you make even low income and are caught treating the pet the same way as a person with no money you may be charged and with no law like this in many places and homeless people haveing pets they are being pro cruelty to animals Is making a law about how homeless people can't own pets unconstitutional or against our basic rights?
well there is a law about not taking care of your pet..if your homeless, how exactly are you going to give adaquete shelter, food, vaccinations, are you going to leave the pet unnattended without a leash or yard? ..do you starve or let the dog starve?go to this site and read the answer to "are you allowed to own pets if you dont have housing for them"also read when can animal authorities take away your pets.the fact is if the homeless person is taking good care of their pet ,then there is no reason why they cant have one....even animal cops on the animal channel has let homeless have their pet back because they were being properly being cared for .it would be like me telling you that you cant have a pet because you have brown eyes...it doesnt matter that you would take care of the pet..you cant have it .see that would be unconstitutional.so yes your teacher is right.ive got a better law,try this ,how about harsher laws/fines for people who purposly abuse/neglect their pet?most fines are just a slap on the wrist with small amount of jail time or fines depending on the state you live in.
