What are your views on putting clothes on pets?

Do you think it's ok or do you think it's going against nature to dress up pets especially dogs ?What are your views on putting clothes on pets?i am okay with it ... my dog does have quite a selection of clothes including t-shirts, hoodies, polar fleeces, raincoats, and winter jackets ... she does not wear clothes in the summer as it is too warm but the other seasons it is good for her to keep her toasty ... i don't think i am going against nature :O) if my dog is considered "abused" because i throw a t-shirt on her every once in a while then consider her abused :O)What are your views on putting clothes on pets?
We used to put human t-shirts on our dog for a joke and he loved every second of the attention. Yes they do look silly but lots of people do silly things with their pet, like teaching them useless tricks, it does not necessarily mean they don't like it. If you've got a greyhound or smooth coated dog in a hot country, then it needs a coat sometimes, simple as. It could be argued as being just as cruel for people to keep huskies and other thick coated dogs in hot countries, personally I think that's worse. If the dog really hates it then its not on, but some dogs do actually enjoy the attention. What are your views on putting clothes on pets?Dog coats (The ones to keep them warm) are fine. My lab shivers when its cold outside so he needs a coat when hes older.

Bows in yorkshire terriers and other hairy breeds I think is ok, they don't seem to notice.

However some dogs don't mind clothes, if a dog bites you, tries to pull off the clothing then it doesn't like it and never well. What are your views on putting clothes on pets?
I think it's gross, specially wealthy Americans I've seen on t.v. even painting the dog's nails and dressing them as humans makes me want to be sick.A dog should never be used as a substitute toy,or even a substitute baby.

The only exception I can think of is a coat for the dog's back (without sleeves of course) to keep the them dry and warm. What are your views on putting clothes on pets?Hi Katie, I believe it all depends on the dog- Take my rescue dog Charlie- he is really cold all the time, so we bought him some fleecy dog coats that he can wear when it's cold- they are open at the bottom- and only his two front paws go into the front. He really likes his winter coats and jumpers- I don't dress him up all the time- only when it's cold. But my dog is really laid back- he's not bothered- it truly depends on the dog- if its upsetting them and causing distress, then don't do it- if the dog does not mind- and it's not to hot then I don't think it's a problem- just as long as the item of clothing is dog friendly- I.e do not dress your dog up as a cat!!!!
I believe theres two sides to the fence on this one. I live in Wyoming - Its COLD COLD COLD in winter so for some breeds a few extra layers can actually be more humane then letting them suffer.

The other side: People dressing their dogs like dolls or even dressing their dogs like them (matched outfits) has NO benefit for the dog - Only the human. Its a cutsie status symbol and from my standpoint - TACKY.What are your views on putting clothes on pets?
If you are dressing your animal up to be cute then you are making that animal uncomfortable for a stupid reason. However, if you have a cold nature animal then a sweater can make the animal have a better life. My aunt has a rat terrier that is always cold. Poor little girl sits there and shivers outside her blanket so my aunt bought her a couple of sweaters. The dog loves them and will go get a sweater and bring it to my aunt when she wants to wear it.
I have nothing against it as long as the dog doesn't mind. My toy poodles has over 50 designer dog coats as she feels the cold. I like her to look nice too and she doesn't mind . I always make sure the coats fit her well not to tight or to big and they don't restrist her movemet she still runs around like a mad thing at the park. And she loves the attention it brings her form people. I never forget she is a dog and all her dog needs are meet. She is a well balanced and social dog. What are your views on putting clothes on pets?
I think a jacket is ok, only for warmth tho not fashion, I'm against personification of animals, but my dog literally shivers at the back door till u put her jacket on(in winter) and she loves it, she's a cattle dog x kelpie
I don't agree with it. Although it's not harming them physically, it's ridiculous, unnatural and selfish to put them through that just for our personal amusement. Animals are not meant to wear clothes.
You shouldn't put clothes on dogs as it is very uncomfortable for them and they find it distressing and to much stress could kill an animal especially if it's a small breed like a Jack Russel they absolutely hate it.
Well animals don't naturally wear clothes. They don't need clothes to keep warm because they have fur, so I don't think it's necessary..it also gets in the way when they want to clean or scratch themselves.
I think it is uncomfortable for the pets. That being said I think I'm going to get a flight suit for my eclectus parrots: http://www.flightquarters.com/bird-diape鈥?/a>

If they need to wear a coat or something for their health (they chill easily, are underweight etc) then it's fine...if it's purely for the benefit of the owner and the animal looks stupid in it then it's ridiculous.
If there is a skin health problem, it is ok. But they do not need clothes, I think it is bothersome for them.
I don't believe in it I think it's cruel and unnecessary and it's for the humans benefitt not the animals.
I like the little coats you can get for your dog....i think there good as they can keep them warm but i think like doggy tutus are stupid.
Animals already have fur. Its cruel to put on clothes on them.
I think its pathetic to dress them up , if you want to dress something up then buy a bloody dolly.
Putting clothes on animals makes the person responsible look stupid!
They have already got their clothes on; A COAT; why would they need another?.
If its for a purpose and not restricting. Its an animal not a barbie doll :/
i don't think it's ok, because what if they're itchy or want to clean themselves?
I think it's stupid.
crazy idea
