How do you take care of your pets while you are on an extended trip?

My husband and I will be taking a four day trip, which will be no problem for my Brother to come over and feed our dog, two cats and two horses. But what about when we are gone for 12 days in September?

What do you do with your pets when your away on vacation? Do you hire a sitter, depend on family, put in a kennel, etc...?How do you take care of your pets while you are on an extended trip?I usually leave them with family, or get a family member or close friend that lives close by to drop in %26amp; check on them, feed them, etc.How do you take care of your pets while you are on an extended trip?
If your gone for a long time you should just ask one of your very best friends that you trust. How do you take care of your pets while you are on an extended trip? When WE went on vacation we sent our dog to a kennel owned by a long time family friend. We also had a neighbor come over to feed our cats and give them water. If you don't want to depend on a kennel for your dog, cats, and even horses, (WOW! lot's of work there huh?) you can ask your neighbors to feed and walk the animals if they're willing to. Hope I helped! How do you take care of your pets while you are on an extended trip?
When I have to go somewhere, the dog goes to my mothers and I have friends come check on the cat every couple days (even though he had more visitors when I was gone than I do when I am home - my two friends came every day - so everyday he had visitors twice a day!)

I am typically only gone a few days at a time, with a rare week-long vacation, so it isnt' much of an issue for me.

I don't know about the horses, but the cats should be ok on their own as long as someone comes to check on them every couple days, but dogs are different - they need more attention - I would leave them with family or kennel them.

Have a good trip! How do you take care of your pets while you are on an extended trip?usually when I am out on the road I have a family member come in and take care of my cat or a neighbor I can trust in my house to do so ..
