Why do so many people let their pets have litters?

I love reading all the questions in the pet section of Answers. However, I cannot believe how many uninformed people there are out there, that are just letting their dogs and cats just breed away. There are so many unwanted pets in this world, millions are killed at pounds every year. Why oh why do people get a pet when they cannot afford to have it spayed or neutered. Please give me your input. Why do so many people let their pets have litters?People complain about not being able to afford getting their pets spayed/neutered, yet they could afford the computer they're using.

They need to realize that local rescues %26amp; shelters often have low cost spay/neuter clinics available. Why do so many people let their pets have litters?
I hate that. people get their animals and dont get them fixed because they cant afford that. well just think, if they can afford to fix their animal do you think they can afford to take care of all the babies and get them medical care, and feed them. i think not. people are just sick. Why do so many people let their pets have litters? They're ignorant and/or just don't care. Why do so many people let their pets have litters?
They don't fully understand what happens when they breed their animals. They probably haven't seen the outcome in the long run, so they think it's okay.

Plenty of people also just like having puppies or kittens around. Some people even want a replica of their beloved pet, although that's usually not what they get.Why do so many people let their pets have litters?I agree with you 100%! Some of these questions make my stomach turn! Should people really be breeding if they need to ask things like “my dog is 8 months old can she have puppies now?” or “what do puppies eat?” let alone on a site with as much misinformation as Yahoo! Answers!? If you don’t know the extreme basics of breeding, and you’re not even serious about it enough to ask a reliable source, that should be a red flag telling you that you should not be doing it!

I don’t think cost is the issue when it comes to making the decision to not spay/neuter (because of course, if your pet has a litter, it will cost you many hundreds of dollars to care for the puppies/kittens/whatever and you’ll never get your money back), but pure ignorance and irresponsibility. People either “don’t care,” they have fallen for all the silly myths surrounding fixing your pet, or they believe odd things like, “it’s not fair to them.” And they refuse to listen to reason or facts. In their mind, they’re right no matter what every vet in the country says! It’s just insane. It’s enough to make you wish there were strict laws and restrictions for breeding. Why do so many people let their pets have litters?
Because people think that they can make money off being a "breeder". They don't understand how much money that it costs to breed their animals properly. The genetic testing, the ultrasound, xrays, shots, health checks, etc. They feel just because their dog is registered (even if it is with a scam registry) or it is cute, or they want their dog to "know the pleasures of motherhood!"

PEOPLE ARE STUPID!Why do so many people let their pets have litters?
It's not that I can't afford to spay my dogs, I just choose not too and they will also never ever be bred. It doesn't take rocket science to make sure that your dogs will never breed.

The health benefits for us of altering our pets, do not outweigh the harmful side effects of getting it done later on in life.

Again, my pets will never breed and they will be left unaltered.

Some people are real cowards! They give me a thumbs down, but don't give a reason why.

What did I say wrong? That I won't alter my pets and that they will never be bred? What's wrong with that? I can guarantee that my pets will never be bred, because I am a responsible owner. They don't go outside unless someone is out there with them. We have privacy fencing surrounding our property.

Where is there anything wrong in that?
Although I agree that dogs should be fixed sometimes accidents happen. If a vet won't spay a dog until she's 6 months and she goes into heat at 5 it maybe hard for some owners to keep the dog inside or supervised at all times. If the ***** is outside nothing will stop a male dog from trying to get to her.
