What is Scratch on the gnome on the sims 2 pets for psp?

I have the sims 2 pets on psp. Does anyone know what the scratch option do? It's on the cheat statue when i go to max motives and then theres a scratch and chew option. I thought it max those motives on my pets but i press it and it stays the same. Do anyone knows what these options do?What is Scratch on the gnome on the sims 2 pets for psp?Pet points:

The real answer is that the scratch and chew options fill the pets learning. If you look in their personal info, you find that there is a spot for things learned. Your pet will be completely taught not to scratch or chew furniture.
