How to kill insects without harming my pets?

I have a bug problem in my room, which is where my cats spend a lot of their day. How can I get rid of the bugs in a way that is safe to my pets? How to kill insects without harming my pets? For ants and whatnot, I put a line of salt in my window sill once a month. I know it sounds odd, but they can't "breathe" through the powder and essentially suffocate.

You can also try a spray bottle of olive oil. My biology professor recommended this because he's "green" all over. No chemicals in his house. He explained that it does the same job as a commercial bug spray, but it doesn't poison the bugs, it just suffocates them.

You can also try those "ultrasonic" plug-ins. If your animals show problems, just remove it. It won't kill them, just might annoy them and you'll know quickly. Before I got my rats, I used them without any problems around cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, and ferrets. How to kill insects without harming my pets?Squish them yourself or get the cats to eat them.
