Disinfectants/Cleaners safe for sensitive family and pets?

Here's my dillema: My two yr old son, husband, and me all have sensitive skin. I also have pets. I used to just clean the house from top to bottom using bleach and water, and got the piece of mind that all germs were being destroyed. Now, I'm concerned about exposing my family and pets to such harsh chemicals, but can't seem to find "natural" cleaning agents that really gives me the "sanitized" effect of bleach or another harsh cleaning solution. Not all germs are harmfull. There are many beneficial bacteria out there that keep the more harmful bacteria at bay. By killing 99.9% of all bacteria as most disinfectants claim you are actually providing space for the other 0.01 % that dont get killed. These 0.01% are the ones that you need to worry about.



Vinegar makes a very effective disinfectant / cleaner as does boiling water. Sodium bicarbonate is also brillant to remove tough stains and is usefull to clean bathroom etc. Regular cleaning with these products is sufficient to provide a clean house



There are also a wide range of eco friendly products available that do not contain harmful chemicals.

White vinegar is great for pretty much all cleaning needs. Mix 1/2 cup in a 32 ounce spray bottle and fill rest of the way with water. You can use this to clean floors (I use it on marble, wood and tile), counter tops, and bathrooms without worrying about harming surfaces or animals. The vinegar smell goes away as soon as it is dried. Heat a bit of white vinegar (not boil) and soak paper towels or rags in it and wrap around faucets or whatever that has hard water or limescal on them. Allow to sit 20 minutes and it should come right off with the towel. White vinegar is a natural disinfectant and will wipe away streak free. As for mold issues, 2 tsp tea tree oil (pharmacy department) in a 12 ounce spray bottle filled to the top with water, spray it on, allow to sit 5 minutes and then wipe away. This is a very effective, cheap and fume free way to get rid of mold. The only time it will not get rid of it is if it is trapped in the silicone sealant in which case nothing will get it out. This also makes a great germ killer for toys and door handles as tea tree oil is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal.Disinfectants/Cleaners safe for sensitive family and pets?White vinigar. Vinegar
Lemon juice with vinegar is great for people with sensitivities to industrial cleaners. It also has antiseptic and antibacterial properties. I used this combination to clean my fridge and it has never smelt fresher, plus it killed all traces of mould.
