How do i feed my pets when im not at home (read details)?

I dont have any pets but im always thinking about getting a cat.

Im wondering how do i feed him if i will not be at home from 10am to 5pm every weekday (I live by myself). Do i just give it all the food in the morning before i leave my house?

Thx. 10points will be given to the best answersHow do i feed my pets when im not at home (read details)?Hello, You can feed a cat 2 or 3 times a day. Once before you leave, once at supper and then some at bedtime.

But there is nothing wrong with feeding wet canned food all day. Put out enough to last all day and add a little water to give the cat more water and to keep it from getting crusty.

If you are buying a cat it is a good time to find out the perfect diet. I am going to tell you some about dry food and then give you 2 links. Dr. Lisa Piersson is a DVM and has devoted her life to teaching people the proper food for a cat as they are obligate carnivores and need high protein and under 10% carb wet food. In the wild way back in time dogs came from the wolves and their body evolved so they eat carbs and fruit and veggies and meat. But cats while coming from the large cats did not change their food needs. You never saw a lion chasing a bisquit. If a lion comes on a spot of picnic he won't eat the egg salad sandwiches will he?

Cats get garbage in dry food and they get garbage in most prescription food and in many canned. That is why I also give you a link to a food chart. Good luck!

Avoid dry food like a plague. It is the leading cause for feline diabetes, kidney failure, UTI's, Crystals in the urine causing blockages. Also obesity and many other problems.

Cats swallow most of the dry food if you look at their barf it is whole and a few of the pieces shatter. The vets feel it is good for cats teeth because the pet food reps tell them it is!!

My vet agreed that cats are obligate carnivores. Meaning they need to have high protein diets with under 10% carbs and dry is not good for them and then tries to sell some to me!!!!!!

Please read the first link to see everything I could write to you and decided to let an expert tell you. then chose a food that is canned from the 2nd list that meets the high protein low carb.

I have 2 cats. I feed them canned food before I leave for work in the morning. I have a self feeder filled with dry food and a self watering dish that is left out constantly. Cats are very self sufficient. Leave them some food, water, litter box and some toys- they can entertain and pretty much take care of themselves until you get home. How do i feed my pets when im not at home (read details)?I feed mine with fresh wet food before I go to work in the morning, and again when I get home at night. I leave dry food all day (and water). My working hours vary. Some days I have left for work at 7.15 a.m., got home at 9.00 p.m., other days, left for work at 10.30 and been home by 8.00 p.m. My last job finished a couple of days ago, so I haven't got up much before 11.30 a.m. When I have woken, my cat us usually laid on me asleep! She gets used to my varying routine and will soon let me know if she is hungry. How do i feed my pets when im not at home (read details)?
you could leave the food down for your cat before you leave or when you come home form work. I would do it before I left for work that way the cat can eat during the day when it wants and just in case you can't make it home right away. but you will be fine. How do i feed my pets when im not at home (read details)?Cats do fine with having a bowl of food left all day and night. They take what they need as the need it. Just please don't put food near the litterbox!

Dogs do better when they have two feeding times a day. Most dogs will over eat and become fat over time.

***This is just general. Individuals may vary***
Easy as pie - feed once in the morning before you leave, and then again when you get home. You could even feed three times per day, but there's really no need.

Technically you could feed just once per day but that's often a bad idea because some cats will eat it all up at once and then hound you for more later.

So figure out how much a cat would need to eat per day and split that in two.

You'll actually be home more than many people who have cats! I'm gone from 7:30-4:30.

And yes - you'd be better off getting an adult. Kittens are a lot of work! You might even consider getting two at once - you often see cats listed who need to be placed in homes together. That way you know they'll get along. How do i feed my pets when im not at home (read details)?
I have 2 cats that are 2 and a half years old and I have them on a feeding schedule I feed them at 6am, 6pm and 10pm. I look at the bag of food and they have feeding guidelines on there and I divide that recomended feeding amount into 3 feeding times.

so when you wake up in the morning you would feed your cat 1/3rd of the daily amount and then when you come home feed 1/3rd of the daily amount and then right before you go to bed feed the last 1/3rd.
First of all you should start your cat on dry cat food and not caned. Be sure that before you leave at 10 o'clock in the morning that you have left your cat a good amount of food and plenty of fresh water, and when you return at 5 p.m. put him some fresh food out and fresh water also. Do this and you should not have any problems !How do i feed my pets when im not at home (read details)?
Well cats are very smart animals. They won't overeat or anything like that, they like to eat when they want to. If you get the cat, get it a good quality food so you know that it won't be filled with fillers (such as ash) or too much fat. Put a bowl out with the food and water and he/she will eat when they are hungry and you won't have to worry about it. Just refill it whenever it becomes empty. One bowl of food will last until you get home, or longer.
If you have an adult cat, you just feed it twice a day so there's no problem - you can leave food before you go out, and then give some more when you get home. It would be best to give dried food in the morning.

It wouldn't be fair to have a kitten if you're out all day, however, as they need feeding more often than that, and also need a lot of playing time.
I feed my cat a little wet food in the morning and at night. I leave out dry for him to snack on all day. And of course water.
I actually do that everyda, leave my cat alone for a long time and live by myself. my cat only eats dry food, but I give him a half of cup in the morning and he'll slowly work through it throughout the day and night, and will be ready for a new 1/2 cup in the morning. If you have wet food too, I would suggest giving it in the morning on a plate when you wake up and hopefully your cat will eat it all before you leave. I also leave a waterbowl out for him that refills it's self. Another alternative if you want to monitor exactly how much your cat eats ( like only so much) there are feeder options that you can set up for days. I've posted some links below.

hope that helps!
I actually have 2 cats myself. Cats go back and forth to the food dish all through the day. But, if you are really worried, buy the cat food dispenser that you only have to fill up a couple of times a week. That's what I have for my cats and it works out great, but, always make sure your cat gets fresh water every day, and, get the cat some grass from the yard every once and a while it helps their digestive system.
i would get cat over 1 year as kittens need feeding every 4 hours.cats you can feed at 10 then again when you home but you could leave some dry food down during the day.if you leave to much some cats eat quick and are sick
Yes, you can feed your cat once in the morning before you leave and then feed him again when he gets home. They mostly sleep anyway so there wont be much need for alot of food.
