How do you get rid of an ant problem when you have pets?

These wee little brown ants are everywhere. On my computer, in the living room, in the kitchen, in the windowsill and doorway. I would spray but we have pets, so want something harmless. I am not sure of the source. How do you get rid of an ant problem when you have pets?I've had a similar problem.

A couple of years ago, someone else on Yahoo Answers posted a recipe for ant baits that does work beautifully.

2 tablespoons borax

1/4 cup sugar

3/4 cup hot water

Mix everything together in a container you can put a lid on until the sugar and borax dissolve, then dip pieces of bread crust in the solution. Put the crusts where you see the ants. The ants will swarm all over the baits and carry it back to their nests- and kill off the whole lot. You should see results in as little as 4 hours, but it may take a few days to get them all.

Good luck! How do you get rid of an ant problem when you have pets?Talcum power put a few line around where they are coming in.How do you get rid of an ant problem when you have pets?If you live in an appartment then you can get what is called ant bate, it is a reddish brown syrup type liquid that you just put a drop on any of the trails that they are using and they pick it up and take it back to their nest,That will generally do the trick and you can put it in areas where your pets do not access. You can get this stuff from the supermarket or your local hardware store and it is quite cheap. It comes in a tiny little container so you don't have to worry about storage.

If you have your own house and yard follow the trails back to the nest outside and pour boiling water down the nest. Not very pleasent for the ants but the problem stops.

Good hunting
