What is the legal number of pets to own in Ontario?

I have a lot of pets, mostly rodents, and I was wondering how many pets you can own legally in Ontario. How many dogs, cats, rodents, etc. I take excellent care of my pets but I've heard horror stories of people thinking someone owns too many and must be neglecting them, and having the pets taken away. Any info or links would be helpful. :)What is the legal number of pets to own in Ontario?Animal ownership in Ontario is legislated at the municipal level, not at the provincial level, so each city/ town has its own by-laws. Many of the larger municipalities have this legislation on-line that you should be able to find by searching your town name along with "by law" and "animals"

The enforcement of these by laws tend to be complaint driven. They don't come door to door looking for violators but do respond to complaints by neighbours, landlords etc. Neglect and cruelty is another legal issue altogether. If you keep your animals well and don't create any problems then you likely have very little to worry about. What is the legal number of pets to own in Ontario?Ah, I was just looking at this yesterday, let me see...

How many animals are you legally allowed to own?
The City of Toronto Municipal Code, Chapter 349 (PDF file size 95KB) states that no person can keep more than six of any combination of dogs, cats, ferrets and rabbits at any given time in their home. Within the combination of dogs, cats, ferrets and rabbits the maximum number of dogs permitted per dwelling unit is three.

Edit: That is for Toronto, I'm not sure if it's different if you live somewhere else in Ontario.
